Role Overview:
As a Senior Designer at Bays Joinery, you’ll play a key role in leading high-end residential and commercial joinery projects from concept to completion. You’ll work closely with clients, architects, and our production team to deliver innovative, functional, and beautifully detailed design solutions that reflect our national reputation for quality.
Your responsibilities will include:
· Leading the design process for custom kitchens, bathrooms, wardrobes, and interior joinery.
· Translating client briefs into creative, functional design concepts using Cabinet Vision and 20/20.
· Collaborating with the sales, production, and installation teams to ensure seamless project delivery.
· Conducting on-site visits to measure and assessing design needs in context.
· Preparing detailed quotes, presentations, and documentation for clients
· Maintaining up-to-date knowledge of materials, fittings, and industry trends.
Requirements for Success:
· A proven track record in designing exceptional joinery, accompanied by an impressive portfolio.
· Proficiency in design software, such as Cabinet Vision or comparable tools.
· Excellent communication skills to liaise effectively with clients, suppliers, and our skilled joinery teams.
· A passion for precision and an unwavering dedication to crafting designs that leave a lasting mark.
· The ability to work autonomously while thriving in a collaborative team environment.
· In-depth knowledge of manufacturing processes and construction methods.
· Strong understanding of cabinetry material properties.

About Us: Bays Joinery is an award winning residential and commercial joinery company servicing the Tasman & Marlborough region and beyond. We have design studios in Nelson and Marlborough with a state-of-the-art factory at our Nelson site. We have a strong team of creative designers, project detailers and qualified joiners.
The Role: The role is a front of house administration/front of house position in our Nelson Design Studio. A 1 year full time maternity cover with the possibility of becoming permanent P/T job share or full time in the future. The main responsibilities are providing outstanding reception and customer service as first point of contact for our clients. Being part of the administration team includes processing accounts, H&S documentation, marketing, tech support as well as assisting the design & operations team. The role is best suited for a personable, self-driven candidate with customer service experience who thrives in a high performing environment. A positive, ‘can do’ attitude will be an important attribute as you liaise with clients, suppliers and our Bays Joinery team.
